Electronic Logs: What the Record Keeper Receives

Electronic logs start on the driver's phone, but most of their working life is spent with the record keeper. Here's what arrives in the office and how it's used.

From Entry to Record

An electronic log is a work diary entry made in an NHVR approved EWD. Once the driver signs off the day, it becomes part of the business's fatigue records, which record keepers hold for three years.

The NHVR's EWD guide says an approved system must be able to upload all the required work diary information to the record keeper, by email report or an online portal. With an EWD there's no page or physical document for the driver to hand in.

Logmaster does both. Entries appear in the web portal as drivers make them, and weekly log sheets are sent automatically.

What Each Log Contains

A good electronic log answers an auditor's questions without a phone call to the driver.
Minute-by-minute logging icon

Exact times

Work and rest are timed to the minute, rather than rounded into 15-minute blocks.
Less paperwork icon

A place for each change

GPS suggests the suburb at each entry, and the driver can correct it when the signal drifts.
Fatigue breach alert icon

Odometer and vehicle

Changes of vehicle and odometer readings sit with the entries they belong to.
Offline mode icon

A signed‑off day

Each day is closed at End of Day sign-off, which is also when any breach is recorded.
Drivers icon

Start‑of‑day details

Each day opens with the details the daily sheet asks for, such as the hours option and the driver's base.

What the Office Does With the Logs

Records only help when they can be found and read.

Read them clearly

Typed records end arguments about smudged handwriting or a misread time.

Search by driver or date

The portal pulls up a driver's history without sorting through boxes of carbon copies.

Run reports

Simplified and compliance reports summarise hours and breaches across the fleet.

Send them on

Log sheets can be scheduled by email to an employer or a client, including more than one company.

Connect other systems

API connectivity lets the logs feed other business systems where that's needed.

Keep paper drivers alongside

Written diaries entered through paper workbook entry sit in the same place for breach checks.

Hear from Our Users

Ray A.

First day with Logmaster was to my surprise was user friendly. Josh was very thorough in taking me through all the steps in setting up the Logmaster app. I would recommend Logmaster to all drivers regardless of age. Never have to worry about making a mistake as it tells you if you are. Great customer service after hours support is second to none.

Mike H.

Have started using Logmaster after trying 3 other models. I actually enjoy using it. Very easy to use and follow and the help if you need it is top notch by the developer. Does everything by the minute and works when no service is available. My system is customised for me and fits well with my system (I’m WA). Cost is on par with two of the other ones looked at.
