The Electronic Diary for Heavy Vehicle Drivers

An electronic diary does the job of the written work diary on a phone or tablet. Logmaster is one the NHVR has approved, so drivers can record work and rest without a pen and a booklet. It runs on Android and Apple devices and keeps recording when there's no signal.

A Booklet and a Pen Leave Too Much to Chance

The written diary still does its job, but every entry depends on handwriting, sums done on the go and pages that can be lost or damaged in the cab. A mistake might not be spotted until an officer or an auditor reads it. An electronic diary takes the counting and the handwriting off the driver.

Logmaster: An NHVR Approved Electronic Diary

Logmaster's electronic diary is approved by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator as an Electronic Work Diary (EWD). Drivers who need a work diary can use it instead of the written National Driver Work Diary. Using an EWD is a choice, not a requirement. Operators can stay with paper, move every driver across or run both while they switch. The diary is one part of the app. The same login gives drivers pre-start checks, fitness declarations and incident reports.

What Changes When the Diary Goes Electronic

clock

Time Worked Out for You

Start or stop work with a tap and the diary works out what's left before your next break and the end of your day, to the minute.
Visibility

Suburb Filled In by GPS

Each entry picks up the suburb from the phone's GPS, and the driver can correct it if the location has drifted. GPS isn't used between entries.
Records

Corrections Before Sign‑Off

Made a wrong entry? Fix it before the day is closed off. Nothing counts as a breach until the driver signs the day off.
Mobile Coverage

A Diary That Can't Be Left at Home

The diary lives on the driver's phone or the cab tablet and is backed up to the cloud, so a forgotten or damaged booklet stops being a problem.
Paperwork

No Bars, No Gaps

When coverage drops, the diary holds each entry on the device and passes it to the office once the connection is back.
Supports

Sent to Each Employer

Drivers who work for several companies keep one electronic diary and can schedule it to be emailed to each employer.

Who the Electronic Diary Is For

Heavy Vehicle

Heavy Vehicle Drivers

Drivers stop doing sums in a booklet. The diary shows time remaining, warns before a break is due and keeps a tidy record for any roadside check.
Record Keepers

Fleet Managers and Record Keepers

Record keepers get each driver's diary in the web portal as it's written, with alerts for potential breaches and a paper workbook entry option for anyone still on the written diary.
Transport Business Owners

Transport Business Owners

Owners swap boxes of carbon copies for searchable records, kept for the three years that record keepers are required to hold them.

An Electronic Diary 10,000 Drivers Use

Logmaster's electronic diary is used by more than 10,000 drivers and 1,200 businesses, from owner drivers to PFD Food Services. Its approval certificate is published by the NHVR, and the platform holds ISO 27001 certification.

Open an account at logmaster.com.au, or have the team walk you through the electronic diary first.
Drivers download Logmaster on Android 7+ or iOS 12.5.5+ devices, or you order tablets with mounts.
Each driver sets up a profile, picks their fatigue plan and signs a fitness declaration.
The office sets up record keeping in the web portal and turns on the alerts it wants.
From the next shift, diary entries flow to the portal and weekly log sheets go out automatically.
