What Is a Driver Hours Calculator?

A driver hours calculator works out how much longer you can legally work before you need a break or a longer rest. It adds up your work across each window the fatigue rules use, from 5½ hours to 7 days.

Doing it by hand is fiddly, because every window rolls forward with each entry. Under Standard Hours a solo truck driver needs 15 minutes' rest in any 5½ hours, 30 minutes in any 8 and an hour in any 11, plus 7 hours of stationary rest in any 24.

Logmaster isn't a separate calculator. It's an NHVR approved electronic work diary that does the counting as you log, shows your time remaining and warns you before a breach.

Why Drivers Stop Counting by Hand

Adding up rolling windows on paper is easy to get wrong. The app does that sum each time you make an entry.

Minute-by-minute records

A written diary works in 15-minute blocks, so small amounts of time vanish in the rounding. Logmaster counts each minute and carries unused minutes forward within the day, giving a truer total.
Less paperwork icon

Done in a few taps

Entries take a couple of taps, and a wrong time can be corrected any time before the day is signed off.
Fatigue breach alert icon

Warned before the limit

As a rest break approaches, the app tells you, and it warns again before your hours run out. Catching it early stops a small slip from becoming a breach on your record.
Offline mode icon

No signal, no problem

Lost coverage doesn't pause your diary. Entries are kept on the device while you're offline and upload automatically once a connection returns, with nothing to type in twice.

One app, several employers

Drive for more than one company? You can use the same app for every job, and log sheets can be sent to each business.

What Schedulers See

Remaining hours matter to the office as much as the driver. Schedulers see them too, which makes it easier to hand out work that fits.

Real-time driver status

Before allocating a run, check who has hours left and who is due for a rest, all from the web portal.

One place for driver records

Diary entries, pre-start checks and fitness declarations are stored together in a secure system. Pulling up a driver's week takes moments, with no search through filing boxes.

Less risk, less stress

Live hours data and alerts leave a clear trail of the steps you took to keep drivers within their limits.

Fewer last‑minute swaps

Knowing each driver's remaining hours before the shift starts means fewer runs handed back halfway and fewer jobs reassigned at short notice.

Simple from day one

Each screen asks for one thing at a time, so drivers new to the app don't need long training before they start counting.

Apple or Android, your choice

The NHVR approval is device agnostic, so drivers can count their hours on a regular smartphone or tablet without fitted hardware.

Reviews from the Road

Ray A.

First day with Logmaster was to my surprise was user friendly. Josh was very thorough in taking me through all the steps in setting up the Logmaster app. I would recommend Logmaster to all drivers regardless of age. Never have to worry about making a mistake as it tells you if you are. Great customer service after hours support is second to none.

Mike H.

Have started using Logmaster after trying 3 other models. I actually enjoy using it. Very easy to use and follow and the help if you need it is top notch by the developer. Does everything by the minute and works when no service is available. My system is customised for me and fits well with my system (I’m WA). Cost is on par with two of the other ones looked at.
