Heavy Vehicle Fatigue Management, From Policy to Paperwork

A fatigue system for a heavy vehicle business has three working parts: the rules you set, the rosters you build and the records that show both were followed. Logmaster handles the record side as an NHVR approved electronic work diary, and gives the office live hours to schedule against.

Where Fatigue Systems Usually Break Down

Most operators have a fatigue policy somewhere. The trouble starts when the policy, the roster and the diaries live in different places and nobody checks one against the other until an audit or an incident forces the question. A dispatcher can't see that a driver is two hours from a limit. A policy says breaks are monitored, but the diaries sit in a box for a month. Each gap is small on its own, and together they're hard to defend.

Connecting the Policy, the Roster and the Record

Logmaster gives drivers an NHVR approved electronic work diary and gives the office a web portal showing each driver's work and rest as it's entered. Because the hours are live, schedulers can check who has time left before they offer a run. Because the records sit in one place, the person reviewing compliance can compare them with what the policy promised. Drivers can still use the written diary if you'd rather. The EWD is optional, and the portal's paper workbook entry lets you check written diaries for breaches too.

What Each Part of the System Needs

clock

A Written Fatigue Policy

Set out which hours option each driver works under, how breaks are planned and what a driver should do when they feel unfit. Logmaster's custom forms can carry your own declarations and checks into the app.
Visibility

Rosters Built on Real Hours

Before a job is offered, the portal shows how much work time each driver has left, so a roster can be tested against the limits rather than guessed.
Records

The Right Rule Set per Driver

Standard, Standard Bus and Standard Two-up, BFM and BFM Two-up, AFM, livestock and concrete agitator exemptions and WA plans are all available in the one app.
Mobile Coverage

A Daily Fitness Check

Fitness declarations and pre-start checks reach the record keeper as soon as they're submitted, ready to export as a PDF.
Paperwork

Early Warning Before a Breach

Drivers get a reminder before a rest break is due, and the office sees potential breaches while there's still time to change the plan.
Supports

Documents That Don't Lapse

Expiry alerts cover licences, registrations, medicals, training and inductions, so a driver isn't rostered on with paperwork out of date.

Who Runs the Fatigue System Day to Day

Heavy Vehicle

Heavy Vehicle Drivers

Drivers record work and rest with a tap, see how long they have before the next break and declare their fitness at the start of each shift.
Record Keepers

Fleet Managers and Record Keepers

Record keepers check each driver's day as it happens, pick up potential breaches early and export records when an auditor or officer asks.
Transport Business Owners

Transport Business Owners

Owners can see whether the fatigue policy they signed off is being followed on the road, which is the kind of reasonable step the Chain of Responsibility expects.
