Fatigue Management for NSW Heavy Vehicles

In New South Wales, heavy vehicle fatigue rules come from the Heavy Vehicle National Law and are enforced by the NHVR. Logmaster, based in Sydney, gives NSW drivers and operators an approved electronic work diary to stay on top of them.

How Fatigue Management Works in NSW

New South Wales runs under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), so national work and rest limits apply to fatigue-regulated heavy vehicles. Drivers need a work diary when they work 100km or more from base under Standard Hours, or at any distance under BFM, AFM, ACA-Fatigue or exemption hours.

Since 1 August 2022, the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) has delivered heavy vehicle compliance and enforcement in NSW, including roadside checks, scheduled inspections, investigations and prosecutions. More than 250 inspectors transferred from the NSW Government to the NHVR when it took over. Transport for NSW still handles licensing and registration, and Service NSW issues the written National Driver Work Diary.

Logmaster is an NHVR approved electronic work diary, which NSW drivers can use instead of the written diary.

What NSW Drivers Get

From city deliveries to the long haul up the coast or out west, Logmaster keeps the diary simple so drivers can concentrate on the road.
Minute-by-minute logging icon

No time lost to rounding

Paper diaries work in 15-minute blocks. Logmaster records to the minute, which commonly leaves more legal driving time in a day.

Entries you can correct

New entries can be edited before you sign off at the end of the day, and a breach is only recorded once you sign off.

Break alerts on the go

Real-time alerts tell you when rest is due, so stop-start metro work and long regional runs both stay inside the limits.
Offline mode icon

No signal, no problem

Through the ranges and in regional NSW, the app keeps recording offline and syncs once you're back in coverage.

Easy for new drivers

Guided screens make the diary quick to learn, whether a driver has used paper for years or is starting fresh.

For NSW Operators and Record Keepers

NHVR inspectors in NSW check records at the roadside and in investigations. Logmaster gives the office complete, time-ordered records and a live view of every driver's hours.

Every driver's hours, live

Track hours across metro and regional drivers as entries come in, and plan the next job around who has time left.

Records ready for inspectors

Diaries are stored in time order and log sheets arrive weekly, so producing records for the NHVR is quick.

Breach risk caught early

Logmaster flags potential breaches while there's still time to talk to the driver.

Concrete agitator hours included

The concrete agitator exemption is built in alongside Standard Hours, BFM and AFM, which suits construction supply fleets.

Support from Sydney

Logmaster's team is based in Surry Hills, Sydney, with phone lines for new enquiries and for support and training.

Your choice of device

Drivers can use their own Android or Apple phones, or Logmaster can supply tablets and truck mounts.

Hear from Our Users

Ray A.

First day with Logmaster was to my surprise was user friendly. Josh was very thorough in taking me through all the steps in setting up the Logmaster app. I would recommend Logmaster to all drivers regardless of age. Never have to worry about making a mistake as it tells you if you are. Great customer service after hours support is second to none.

Mike H.

Have started using Logmaster after trying 3 other models. I actually enjoy using it. Very easy to use and follow and the help if you need it is top notch by the developer. Does everything by the minute and works when no service is available. My system is customised for me and fits well with my system (I’m WA). Cost is on par with two of the other ones looked at.
