Changing Rule Sets

Important notice:  Changing Rule Sets

Drivers may need to change the fatigue rules that they are logging against and this has been more frequently discussed among our users recently.

We’ve recently conferred with the NHVR and clarified interpretation on what happens when a driver changes fatigue plan.

The previous counting points remain in effect in the previous fatigue plan until the time is completed or the driver has achieved the requirements.

For example, if you started a 7 day counting point 5 days ago on the previous fatigue plan, you are still bound by the requirements of that counting point, to log within the limitations of that rule set.

If you change your fatigue plan, you are bound by the new fatigue plan on all counting points back to your last 48 hours rest break.

If you change fatigue plan after a 48 hour rest break, the new fatigue plan doesn’t roll back, but you are still bound by the previous counting points, as not all rules are finalised by a 48 hr rest break.

E.g. BFM 144 hr Work in 14 day period and the 4x night rest requirements

Standard Bus 28 day 288 hr work in 28 days and the 4 x 24 hr rest requirement.

So, take care when changing rule sets, to remain in compliance with any entries you may have made in the past.

For example: 7 day counting point Standard Solo switch to Standard Bus

The driver should have started his rest break after the 14th. He could have started at 14:00 and been fine.

Logmaster counts this way, drivers using the app will see a breach alert if this is occurring. Talk to our support line if in doubt.
